Dreaming big with Drones

My name is Katherine Guerrero and I study Computer Sciences. I have been teacher assistant and I took the Innovation and Entrepreneurship course from UC Berkeley. In this course I worked with a group on creating a new way of shopping, using the technology that we have available in our mobile phones for paying and other uses. I consider myself as a creative person, independent and courageous. I am also a self-learner, I have made different online courses at Coursera and other platforms to learn new programming languages. I love to have international contact, to learn about different cultures and meet new people. That is the reason I have learned different languages as English and Italian. I truly believe I have the capacities to take this challenge and I am excited waiting for it.

Now a days drones are mostly used for battling purposes, but I think they could be used for so many purposes. They could help on the creation of Smart Cities. For example, for controlling how people move inside of the cities, this collection of information could be used at publicity agencies to find where are the most convenient places to install billboards. There is also investigation in artificial intelligence to use cameras placed around the cities to identify suspicious activities, such as recognizing someone stealing at a store. I think that with the use of drones, criminals could be follow and notify the police, or even capture them. These uses could be applied worldwide, analyzing the specific situation of the country. But if we think on Chile, this country stands out in many different areas, such as agriculture, mining, turism and so on. And the technology of drones can make progress in these areas, but we need to consider the limitations they have. From my perspective, if we want to innovate in the drones usage we have to start investigating and watching the society needs.
